Health & Safety

When you arrive at Avalanche Ranch you will be surrounded by the majestic rocky mountains, quaking aspen trees, and depending on the time of year you’ll see glorious wildflowers or snowcapped peaks – sometimes you could have both. Since our elevation is around 7,000 feet, you may feel the effects early in your visit or at some point during your stay. Here are some tips for you:
- It is important to remember to hydrate! Water is life in the mountain so be sure you are drinking plenty of water yourself before you arrive and throughout your stay.
- Take it easy – The first day or so try to relax and enjoy the Ranch. Save your strenuous hike, snowshoe tour or skiing for day 2 or 3.
- Eat a few carbs. Yes, you may have permission to put some carbs into your system.
- Remember your hat and sunscreen. You are closer to the sun here so even an overcast day can lead to sunburn. Be sure to apply sunscreen regularly and wear a hat.
- Sturdy shoes can be functional and fashionable. You’ll notice the locals have a variety of footwear from hiking or snow boots, to closed toed shoes with grippy soles to wide strapped sandals. Bring a couple pair so you’ll have the right show for relaxing or adventuring around the ranch.
- Watch the weather – Use your favorite weather app ahead of your stay to plan what to pack and monitor the weather during your visit. We really can have all 4 seasons in 1 day so as they say “Be Prepared” and you’ll have a wonderful time.
We look forward to you arrival. Your cozy, well-appointed space is ready for you. Get outside and enjoy our natural hot springs, the Ranch, and the mountains!
