When is high/low season?
High season is summer, Memorial Day through Labor Day.  Low Season is winter, Labor Day until Memorial Day.  For more information, please visit our Policy page .

Do you require minimum night stays?
We have a 3 night minimum stay during high season (Memorial Day to Labor Day). In low season (Labor Day to Memorial Day) we only have a 2 night minimum stay in the cabins and Ranch House.  Year-round there is no minimum night stay in the Wagons.

Is there a calendar view on the “Book Now” page?
Yes!  When you click “book now” it brings you to a page where you plug in dates.  On the right side in grey, there is a “Browse All” link.  Click on that link and it will bring up a list of our units.  Under each unit is a calendar tab.  If you open all the tabs and select the month you are looking for it shows you the current availability.

What if there is only one night available? Can I book it?
If our cabins are available for only one night we would love to book them, but you do have to call the office to book.  The Ranch House does not accept any stays shorter than 2-3 nights.

What do I do if I check in after 5pm?
We will leave a map for you on the office door with your name on it and your unit number. With the help of the map you will be able to find your unit which will be unlocked for you and the key will be on the kitchen table. If you need assistance press the Call Button next to the office door.

What should I do if I want to check out before 9am?
You can leave the key in your cabin and leave the door unlocked.

What do I need to bring?
We do provide sheets, bath towels, and pool towels (no robes). The kitchens are fully equipped with pots, pans and utensils.  There is a stove, oven, toaster, coffee maker. We provide coffee, coffee filters, a variety of teas, apple cider and hot chocolate. There is sugar, powdered creamer, salt and pepper. The only things you need to bring in order to prepare a meal are butter, oil, spices and food!.

Do you have wifi/cell service?
We do not have cell service here and the cabins don’t have wifi. We do have a phone and wifi in our Lodge, which is open to guests 24 hours.
The only units that have a phone in them are: the Ranch House and The Loft. The Loft also receives wifi signal.

Where is the closest grocery store?
Carbondale (about 12 miles) has a City Market and Mana Foods, a health food store.  Redstone has a general store.

Do you have a restaurant?
We do not.  All of the cabins have fully equipped kitchens, but the wagons do not.

Closest restaurants?
There are 2 restaurants in Redstone, about 4 miles South of us. You can find more options in Carbondale (12 miles from us). For more information on dining, please click the following link http://www.eatcarbondale.com.

Do you provide coffee in the morning?
We do not provide coffee in the morning but there are coffee pots in every cabin and wagon, as well as coffee and coffee filters.

Do you allow pets?
Yes.  We allow up to two pets per cabin for a $50 fee per pet. Please see our pet policy

Are children included in the max occupancy?
Yes, all humans are included in the maximum occupancy.

Are you open year-round?
Yes, the office and lodging are open 7 days a week, year-round.
The Hot Springs are closed every Wednesday from 9am-5pm.

What are your hours for hot springs use for visitors?

What is the temp of your hot springs?
The pools range from 93-104 degrees.

Are you family friendly?
Yes, children and babies are allowed in the pools. They must be supervised and respectful of quiet hours.  Babies must wear swim diapers.

What are your office/gift shop hours?
We are open daily from 9am-5pm.

Do the cabins have grills?
Yes, all cabins have charcoal grills. Please bring your own charcoal. The Ranch House, Hill Top, Chuck Wagon and the Loft #15 have a gas grill.  There is also a gas grill on the Lodge porch which can be used by anyone.

Are there fire pits by the cabins?
Not at each individual unit but we do have a communal fire pit which guests can use any time. We do provide the firewood.  In the summer, we do have a campfire singalong by the fire pit every Wednesday and Saturday evening starting at 8pm.

How far in advance should I make reservations for lodging?
If you are looking at staying with us on a weekend, we suggest to make reservations at least 6 months in advance. Summer is our high season and people begin booking one year in advance.

What happens when the roads are bad in the winter?
The roads near Avalanche Ranch are well maintained.  In the winter you do need a vehicle with either snow tires, 4×4 or chains.  We do not accept cancellations due to weather.

When do you get your first snow?
Usually, we get our first snow in October but it generally doesn’t accumulate until late November.

Do you provide firewood for the woodstoves?
Yes, we do.
