High season is summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day), Christmas-New Years Day, and Presidents Day Weekend. Low Season is winter (Labor Day until Memorial Day). For more information, please visit our Policy page.
We have a 3-night minimum stay during high season (Memorial Day to Labor Day). In low season (Labor Day to Memorial Day), we only have a 2-night minimum stay in the cabins and Ranch House. Year-round, there is no minimum night stay in the Wagons.
If you are interested in a shorter stay, call the office to see if there is one available, sometimes they come available between other reservations.
Yes! Clicking “book now” brings you to a page where you choose your dates. There is a grey “Browse All” link on the right side. Click on that link to bring up a list of our units. Under each unit is a calendar tab. Opening all the tabs and selecting the month you are looking for shows you the current availability.
If our cabins are available for only one night we would love to book them, but you do have to call the office to book. The Ranch House does not accept any stays shorter than 2-3 nights.
We will leave a map for you on the office door with your name and your unit number. With the help of the map, you will find your unlocked unit. The key will be on the kitchen table. If you need assistance press the Call Button next to the office door.
You can leave the key in your cabin and leave the door unlocked.
We provide sheets, bath towels, and pool towels (no robes).
The only things you need to bring to prepare a meal are butter, oil, spices, and food!
The kitchens are fully equipped with pots, pans and utensils. There is a stove, oven, toaster, coffee maker. We provide coffee, coffee filters, a variety of teas, apple cider, and hot chocolate. There is also sugar, powdered creamer, salt, and pepper.
We do not have cell service here, and the cabins don’t have Wi-Fi. However, we do have a phone and Wi-Fi in our lodge, which is open to guests 24 hours a day.
The only units with phones are the Ranch House and the Loft. The Loft also receives a Wi-Fi signal.
Carbondale (about 12 miles away) has a City Market and Mana Foods, a health food store. Redstone has a general store.
We do not. All of the cabins have fully equipped kitchens, but the wagons do not.
There are two restaurants in Redstone, about four miles south of Avalanche Ranch. You can find more options in Carbondale (12 miles from us). For more information on dining in Carbondale, please visit http://www.eatcarbondale.com.
We do not provide coffee in the morning, but there are coffee pots in every cabin and wagon, as well as coffee, sugar, and powdered creamer.
Yes. We allow up to two pets per cabin for a $50 fee per pet. Please see our pet policy.

Yes, all humans are included in the maximum occupancy.
Yes, the office and lodging are open seven days a week, year-round. The Hot Springs are closed every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The pools range from 93 to 104 degrees.
Yes, children and babies are allowed in the pools. They must be supervised and respectful of quiet hours. Babies must wear swim diapers.
We are open daily from 9am-5pm.
Yes, all cabins have charcoal grills. Please bring your own charcoal. The Ranch House, Hill Top, Chuck Wagon, and Loft #15 have gas grills. There is also a gas grill on the Lodge porch, which anyone can use.
Not at each individual unit but we do have a communal fire pit that guests can use any time. We provide the firewood. In the summer, we have a campfire singalong by the fire pit every Wednesday and Saturday evening starting at 8 p.m.
If you are looking at staying with us on a weekend, we suggest to make reservations at least 6 months in advance. Summer is our high season and people begin booking one year in advance.
The roads near Avalanche Ranch are well-maintained; however, in the winter you need a vehicle with either snow tires, a 4×4, or chains. We do not accept cancellations due to weather.
Usually, we get our first snow in October but it generally doesn’t accumulate until late November.
